Volunteer

GO Project needs your time and talent to enrich the learning experience of our students. There are multiple ways to get involved for individual and group volunteers across K-8 grade levels during weekday summer and school-year Saturday morning programming.

Committed Classroom Volunteer

Sign up to provide ongoing support in GO classrooms during the school year. Volunteers commit to most Saturday mornings during the fall and/or spring semesters. Learn more about the opportunity here and submit your application: GO School Volunteer Application.

Group and Corporate Volunteer Days

Organize a community service day for employees of your company, student groups, friends, or family. Group volunteers support student enrichment classes on weekday afternoons in July and Saturday mornings during the school year. Specialized Workshops

GO welcomes the opportunity to leverage corporate professional skills and expertise to develop one-time or a series of targeted learning workshops for GO middle school students or for parents and caregivers of our students. Past learning workshop topics have included finanical literacy, introduction to digital coding, and nutrition and healthy eating. Book Drive

Organize a book drive for GO students! To help facilitate a successful collection, please reference this list of age-appropriate books or Amazon WishList, as well as a promotional flyer. Volunteers have the opportunity to help distribute books to students and families at our book fairs at the end of the school year in May or before winter break in December. GO Getter Summer Internship

The GO Getter summer internship is an opportunity for high school students to learn and develop leadership skills while working with GO Project students in academic and/or enrichment classes. During the five-week GO Summer program, interns support instruction in one of our K – 4 classrooms under the guidance of a Head Teacher or Enrichment Teacher. Applications for the role are available each spring.

Translation Support

Provide translation assistance for GO parents and caregivers whose primary language is Spanish, Chinese Mandarin, or Chinese Cantonese. Assistance includes translation of documents shared with families (periodic, on-call basis) and/or joining Parent Teacher Conferences on Zoom. If you are fluent, sign up here: Volunteer Translator Sign Up Form.

College and Career Pathways Panel

Share about your field of work and your specific career and/or college experience to inspire the next generation! Did you always know you were going to end up in your career? How did you get there? What inspires you to do the work you do every day? What tips can you share with students that you would have wanted to know when you were in sixth or seventh grade? GO runs college and career readiness programming throughout the school year for our upper-elementary and middle school students and would like you to participate in one of our professional panels. Our college and career readiness program seeks to expose students to new pathways and instill belief in pursuit of those pathways.

You will join 5-6 other professionals from diverse industries and occupations.

Sessions will run for approximately 60 minutes, with a full panel discussion followed by 1:1 conversations with students. A brief orientation for volunteers is available prior to the panel in order to become more familiar with GO’s mission, the students we serve, and any logistical questions about participation.

Virtual Read Aloud Sessions (closed)

Volunteers logged on to lead book discussions with students in K-4 during the pandemic, providing a fun way for students to grow their love of reading in a non-academic setting. GO is grateful to Brookfield, Branching Minds, McKinsey, and St. Luke's for organizing groups of eager readers to provide support in our Zoom reading rooms!
