GO Project Social Worker
Position Description
The GO Project is looking for two part-time bilingual social workers. This is a unique-part time social work position. Candidate will work directly with parents and students, providing short-term counseling, referrals and follow-up to support the student/parents both academically and emotionally. Social Worker will facilitate student groups varying from play therapy to psycho-educational groups appropriate for K-5 age group. Responsibilities also include planning and executing parent workshops that correspond to the needs of the GO Project community. This is an excellent opportunity for school-based social workers, new graduates or private practitioners who are interested in expanding their knowledge base.
The part-time Social Worker shall complete all reasonable tasks assigned at the direction of your Supervisor. These tasks will primarily be undertaken on an independent basis although some will be undertaken in coordination with GO's other social workers. These tasks include, but are not limited, to the following:
• Assist with the organization and facilitation of parent workshops with outside community agencies;
• Provide a visible, professional presence during both GO Summer during the weekdays from July to August and GO School program on Saturday mornings from October through April and support the Site Managers;
• Conduct psycho-social evaluations for all incoming families of the GO Project that are assigned to you and document psycho-social meetings and recommendations;
• Attend the weekly Program Staff Meetings and supervision with Director of Social Services;
• Facilitate and coordinate all aspects of GO Families-Parent Groups sponsored events
Qualifications: MSW is required, LMSW/LCSW is preferred. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children in kindergarten to5th Grade, (ages 5 to 10 years) and their families, experience with play therapy, and clinical experience with children and families. Since many of the GO families are bi-lingual, the ability to speak Spanish or Cantonese/Mandarin is necessary.
Anticipated Time Commitment: The GO project is a full year's commitment. Candidate must be available on Saturday mornings during the school year and have a flexible weekly schedule in July and early August for our summer program. Exact hours to be determined.
Salary: $5,000
